Please note that we can only accommodate a limited number of placements and research positions throughout the year.
PhD studentships
Each academic in the group currently accept between 1 – 3 PhD students per year. University funding opportunities for both UK and International students can be found here. Self-funded applicants (either direct funding or via local scholarships) are also welcome and we encourage all interested applicants to consider alternative funding schemes.
Current areas of interest: Robot kinematics and dynamics; Robot control; Robot Sensing and Perception; Mobile manipulators; Legged Robots; Cooperative manipulation systems; Human-robot interaction; Mechatronic Design.
We also encourage multidisciplinary research proposals. Examples of such projects are ‘Radiochemical Sensing for Robotic Inspection’ (Chemistry/Robotics), ‘Wireless Power Transfer for Mobile Robots’ (WPT/Robotics) and ‘Digital Technologies for Robotic Inspections’ (Computer Science/Robotics).

MPhil Research
The group occasionally accepts applications for 1 year MPhil Research projects. Funding for these projects is very limited, so we would ordinarily expect the student to be self-funded (either direct funding or via local scholarships). More information is available at the University of Manchester website.
